Whitehouse Construction is a leading Civil Engineering SME based in Ashbourne.

We are looking for mature hardworking apprentices to join our delivery teams. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone wishing to build a career in a trade, learning fundamental and transferable practical skills, gaining a wealth of experience working on live construction sites across the Midlands. Transport to/from sites can be provided dependant upon location.

Study will take place either 1 day per week or in block session which will be determined should you be successful.You will be working as part of a team alongside other skilled tradespeople to deliver various civil engineering works to the highest Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) standards. You will gain competencies in a wide range of techniques.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Adhere to our Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) standards
  • Setting out and loading materials
  • Using power tools – training will be provided
  • Maintaining cleanliness of all equipment and sites
  • Laying concrete and shuttering
  • Laying Tarmacaddam
  • New Roads and Street Works

It is anticipated that the successful candidates will commence the role in September 2022.

Entry Requirements

  • GCSE grade D/3 or above in English and Mathematics
  • A Pass or above in a construction-based course (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential

Person Specification

  • An interest in civil engineering and/or construction
  • Motivated to learn
  • Good timekeeping and reliable
  • Positive attitude and excellent work ethic
  • Willing to work outdoors in ALL weathers
  • Willingness to complete physically demanding jobs
