We are a family run business directly employing our entire workforce on a PAYE basis, recognising that our people make our business the success it is today.

We work alongside a wide range of blue-chip companies such as; Environment Agency, Severn Trent Water, Manchester Airport Group, National Grid, Coal Authority and many more, throughout the Midlands region and beyond. Also, fully owning and operating a Flood Door Manufacturing Facility.

We are looking for a Yard Operative to join our team on a permanent basis.

Day to day duties will include the following:

  • Stock Keeping – Maintain minimum stock levels from common yard stock list. Notify buying when stocks are low to order replacement.
  • Stock Keeping – Maintain stock of tool/site consumables cupboard and notify buying when last items taken or running low.
  • Stock Keeping – Maintain yard fuel stock levels.
  • Stock Keeping – Assist Buying Department in any stock taking Audits
  • Stock Keeping – Request stock orders through the companies requisition app.
  • House Keeping – Arrange for yard skip exchanges.
  • House Keeping – Ensure yard and workshop materials are correctly & safely stored.
  • House Keeping – Maintain a clean/tidy & safe working environment yard & Workshop.
  • Goods inward – check notice board for orders coming into yard.
  • Goods inward – Take delivery and check off all deliveries against delivery note and order. Notify buying of deliveries or any shortfall/ damages.
  • Goods inward – notify buying of any significant materials returned from site which have not been used.
  • Goods inward – Notify plant department of any equipment returns.
  • Goods inward – Record the tipping in the yard of any Muck & Hardcore
  • Goods outward – Check board regularly for picking lists to prepare for site deliveries.
  • Goods outward – Ensure any Plant & Equipment that is issued is in service & test date – inform fitters in of any equipment that is out of date or faulty.
  • Ad-hoc – PAT testing of company’s electrical items – training given.
  • Ad-hoc – Assist with any deliveries using company vehicles that you have the relevant licence for.
  • Ad-hoc – Carry out other duties to help other departments that the company deem reasonable & within your skill set.

Hours of Work: 06:00 – 15:30hrs, Monday to Friday. Overtime may be required at times to suit business needs.

Location: Ashbourne Head Office, DE6 1JU

Salary: We pay the minimum living wage – wage negotiable dependent upon experience

Driving License required, Minimum UK Full B+E Maximum 6 points

Other Licenses: Forklift – Training will be given. CSCS Card – Training will be given

Skills Required:

  • Basic computer skills for updating stock sheets & data input (training given on all required systems)
  • Able to work using own initiative
  • Ability to work within a small team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to manage own workload to achieve deadlines
